Not Ready to Build a Kayak? Rebuild One.

February 14, 2009

Have you thought about building a kayak, but not sure that you want to undertake such a big project? Why not refurbish an  old fiberglass boat. It is not too hard to find an old fiberglass kayak that is in disrepair, and someone may even be willing to give you a boat like this.

Even the most damaged boats can be brought back to life with a set of rubber gloves, a paint brush, glass cloth, and resin. Add some gell coat ontop of all that, and you have yourself a boat that looks brand new.

I had never really thought about refurbing a boat until I ran across a fellow by the name of Sean, and he is doing just that. He has gotten an old Icefloe (pictured above) and is making it look like new.

Check out Sean’s progress on his site and look at his before and after shots.
